    Description

This auction is for a rare, early opera handbill of the Richard Wagner opera
    Lohengrin
    .
The handbill is an advertisement for the opera appearing at the Royal Court Theater in Dresden Germany in 1896.
On the reverse of the handbill, there are pencil written notes regarding dates and locations of previous Lohengrin performances.
The handbill, at one point, was glued into the front board of a vintage hard-bound musical score of Lohengrin.
I removed the poster from that book many years ago. It was folded in half, horizontally and vertically, resulting in two creases that can be clearly seen in the photos.
The opera itself featured Georg Anthes as Lohengrin in 1896.
Beyond that, you’ll have to reference the photos to ascertain any other performers.
This piece would look great properly framed and will be carefully shipped to you flat and unfolded.
It is in excellent condition considering its age and the fact that it was printed on a flimsy substrate typical
    of the time
over 120 years ago but please reference the photos for actual quality and contact me with questions or request additional photos.
I also have another Lohengrin handbill from 1903 as well
    as a Gotterdammerung Handbill
from 1897 listed so please check my other auctions.
