The master artisan skills are not duplicated in modern reproductions to give such character.
The studio that made this cat came from south China.
The studio’s production was during the late teens and 1920’s until the Japanese War.
After the war, it was one of few left.
The puppy was sculptured by one master artist  The mold is much older ~ Circa earlier 1900s.
As part of the aging process, the spaniel has patina and crazing.  The eyes are Peking glass, the character and balance of sculpture depicts the art, and there are no damages.  From the markings on the bottom, the item was made for export.  These type of items were popular during the late 20s and 40s before the communists take over..
